چکیده
Despite recent progress in preparing numerous types of nanosheets, it remains a difficult challenge to assemble the tiny building blocks into functional macroscale architectures suitable for practical applications. Here we introduce a diffusion driven layer-by-layer assembly process and demonstrate its application for the construction of graphene oxide sheets into various three-dimensional structures. This process involves complexation of the negatively charged graphene oxide sheets and positively charged branched polyethylenimine at a given interface. We find that the diffusion of branched polyethylenimine molecules allows the complex to continuously grow into foam-like frameworks with tunable porosities. Furthermore, the assembly process is quite robust and can be utilized in various configurations such as to create free-standing architectures with tailored shapes or patterned films on a substrate. With such useful features, we believe that this technique may serve as a valuable tool for the assembly of nanomaterials.

متن کاملOrdered self-assembly of amphipathic graphene nanosheets into three-dimensional layered architectures.
A novel layered graphene-based architecture is achieved via an ordered self-assembly process. Amphipathic graphene nanosheets are joined horizontally into large sheets via edge splicing, and a cross-linking agent of poly(vinyl alcohol) bridges them into integrated three-dimensional monoliths with tunable interlayer spacing. This layered architecture possesses highly ordered and favorable microc...

A simple ice-templated self-assembly process is used to prepare a three-dimensional (3D) and vertically porous nanocomposite of layered vanadium phosphates (VOPO4) and graphene nanosheets with high surface area and high electrical conductivity. The resulting 3D VOPO4-graphene nanocomposite has a much higher capacitance of 527.9 F g(-1) at a current density of 0.5 A g(-1), compared with ~247 F g...

Two different kinds of two-dimensional (2D) materials, graphene oxide (GO) and titanium oxide nanosheets (Ti₀.₈₇O2(0.52-)), were self-assembled layer-by-layer using a polycation as a linker into a superlattice film. Successful construction of an alternate molecular assembly was confirmed by atomic force microscopy and UV-visible absorption spectroscopy as well as X-ray diffraction analysis. Exp...
